An experiment to increase access to coaching
One of our core values is to increase access to the benefits of coaching — we never want the cost of coaching to be a barrier. At the same time, another core value we uphold is the concept of equitable value exchange — a principle of creating mutually beneficial relationships where participants walk away happy and with fair value. These two values can be at odds in the world of coaching, so how do we resolve this?
The Ashiba Coaching for Good Gift Bank is a unique program we’re experimenting with that offers a sustainable business model for offering pro-bono coaching to those who might otherwise never work with a coach.
How does it work?
Every month, we block off time in our calendar to provide pro-bono coaching and we make this time available in our online booking system — our Ashiba Coaching for Good Gift Bank — giving anyone the opportunity to schedule 1:1 coaching time.
Each of our coaching clients receives 1hr of coaching time they can either gift to a friend or donate into this Ashiba Coaching for Good Gift Bank.
When the time is gifted, we block this off in our online booking system, giving anyone the opportunity to schedule this 1:1 coaching time.
Supporting our value of equitable value exchange, what we ask in exchange from the coaching gift recipients is that they share a message (anonymously if they like) which we can then share back with our community of clients and donors.
In addition to the time gifted by our clients, anyone can make a donation to provide coaching as a gift to those who might otherwise not work with a coach. For every $50, Ashiba will add 1hr of coaching time to the gift bank calendar.
